(Dv ‘‘Eileen.’’) WANGANUI, July 12. . Mrs Duncan Cameron, of the “Mountain House,’ New Plymouth, is on a holiday visit to Mrs Campion, of Okerei. Mr Allen, of the local telegraph stall, accompanied by Mrs Allen and family, left on Thursday for Nelson, where their future homo will be. ' Mr and Mrs Morrell, of Waverloy, and Miss Harvy. of Waverloy, were in town during the week. Mrs A. 0. Hardy left for New Plymouth on Friday. Mrs Stewart, of Gisborne, is on a holiday visit to friends in Wanganui. Mrs A. O. Hardy gave a farewell evening on Wednesday to Mr and Mrs Allen and a welcome home to Lance-Cor-poral Brown, M.M.. and his brother. The latter was a prisoner of war in Germany for two and a half years. Ho enlisted in tho London Scottish. Mr Brown, senr., is leaving Wanganui for Invercargill. Friends were glad to welcome his sons homo again. They left on Thursday morning for Wellington. The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held this week. There wore present Mesdnmes Izctr fin the choir), Dnigan. McNeill. J. Stevenson, Addenbrooko, Mackay, Kelly, Bates, McLeod, Harper, Rutledge, and Nenme. Aftethe nurse’s report was confirmed, quite a number of new members were enroiW. Matters in connection with the opening of the Stewart Home - were discussed. Mrs Itanev Jackson loft on Friday for Morton to be present at the Hunt Club ball.
In the event of.the weather being wet on Saturday norct’tho committee for the children’s celebrations has decided to entertain them in the Drill Hall, and to hold any snorts in Queen’s Park, closely -■ vV, 0 hall.
