GROUP FIRE RIFLE ASSOCIATION
A very largo meeting of all the officers of the garrison was held at the Garrison Hall last week. Captain W. Bell, N.i«. Staff Corps, Group Commander, occupied the ohair.. Tho draft programme for tho Group Rifle Association meeting issued by district headquarters was submitted, and a committee of nine was appointed to make the necessary arrangements for carrying out the programme. Stafi-Sergeant-Major J. King was appointed hon. secretary. Tho members oi the committee were: —Group Commander (chairman), Major Dunne, Captain Davis, Lieutenants Thomson, N.2.P.,5., Able, Smith, Crokor, Jones, and Mr Judd, Rifle Club. It was decided to hold a meeting at Trentham on Saturday, March 22nd. At a committee meoting held last night it was decided that a vory liberal programme was to be submitted to the general meeting. Very favourable reports wore received. Tho following donations to tho prize fund have been made: —Two guineas each, Colonel Campbell, Coast Defence Commander, Colonel YV. G. Duthie, Colonel J. J. Esson, Major Simm; one guinea, British General Eloctrio and Smith and Smith: 10s Cd, Mx C. W. Battenj fis, Mr Mulhollnnd. Several valuable trophies have been offered, including chamsion5 ion belt, challenge shield, and ehal>nge cup for teams matches. The ©ommittoe arranged to canvass tho city for further donations and trophios, and donations will bo gratefully received by the Group Commander. The programme will be issued shortly for the information of intending competitors. Senior Cadets being specially catered for.
