YACHT RACES
The Port Nicholson Yacht Club held ita Points Race on Saturday afternoon in rather boisterous weather. The new course (about 16 miles), from off the Clyde quay wharf to round the Pinnacle buoy off Seatoun and back to the starting line, was sailed over, for the first time. Mr J. W. Qendall acted as handicapper, judge and starter. The Mark Toy system (starting by handicaps) was again followed. The event for the first class yachts was won by the Viola, with the Bona, which was seven minutes late in starting, second. If the Kona had got away on time she would have won. The third boat was the Waitangi. All three placed boats were skilfully sailed and provided a capital race, hollowing are the results hirst class yachts—Viola (sailed by W. Duncan), 25miti start, finishing time ihr admin SOsec, 1: Bona (A. J. hotborick), lOmin, finishing time 4hr 53min, 2; Waitangi (J. Smith), scratch, finishing lime 5b r Imin SOsec, 3. Also started—Atalanta (H. McComish), 17min, finishing time shr 6min, 4; Kotiri (h. Cull), IGmin, finishing time shr 17min, 5. The Marangi, 15min, did not start. Second class yachts—Baweno (h. Kiernan), lOmin start, finishing time 4hr 51 min, 1; Galatea (A. Scott), scratch, finishing time shr Imin SOsec, 2; Venus (h. Cooke), 3niin, finishing time shr 8 rain, 3. Also started —Wairoro, 3mm, finishing time shr 21mjn, 4; lolantho, 4miu, finishing time shr 25min. The race for third class yachts lapsed, as there was only one boat, the Muritai, prepared to start.
