INCREASES AND BONUSES
PROTEST AGAINST DISCRIMINATION. Press Association. WANGANUI. September 28. The local branch of the Post and Telegraph Association, at a meeting last evening, resolved to place on record its disapproval of the discriminating manner in which the Government lias dealt with the questions of war bonuses and salary increases in the Public Service, and to request the Government to grant part service war bonuses and salary increases on the tamo basis as other branches of the service, such to take effect from April Ist, 1918. Further, in view of the depreciating value in the purchasing power of tho sovereign and the absolute inadequacy of tho war bonus to make up the deficiency, in actual value in salaries compared with tho pre-war figures, it was recommended that the association demand a general increase of not less than 20 per cent, in tho salaries of all members of tho P. and T. service.
