RETURNED SOLDIERS
DRAFT ARRIVES AT WELLINGTON. A large number of soldiers who have seen service at the front arrived m Wellington yesterday morning by a hospital ship. The vessel made Auckland her first port of call, where 17 out of a total of 52 cot cases were landed, besides walking patients. On arrival at the King’s wharf yesterday the men were welcomed by the Mayor (Mr J. P. Luke, C.M.G.) and Mrs Luke, who distributed quantities of fruit and cigarettes. The disembarkation was carried put satasfactorily, and as the invalids made, .their way to the waiting motor-cars, provided by the Volunteer Motor Corps, they were given a hearty welcome by next-of-km and friends. Surgeon-General Henderson, C. 8., Director-General of Medical Services, who inspected the vessel on her arrival, stated that he found everything in first-class condition. There were ten cot patients for Wellington, and the men looked exceedingly well after their long voyage. ; _ . The men for the "Wellington district proceeded to their homes during the course of yesterday, ‘ aiul the South Island contingent left during tho afternoon for Lyttelton.,
