NAPIER LIBEL ACTION

JURY UNABLE TO AGREE. Press Association. NAPIER-, August 30. The hearing of the libel notion J. V. Brown, M.P., v. MulvanaJi and Variables, was continued to-day. The witnesses included A. •E. Jull (chairman of the Harbour Board), the Mayor, Mr H. Hill (recalled), and the High School Board's solicitor and secretary. The-jury-we're unable to agree -upon a verdict after four hours' retirement, and a majority verdict could not be arrived at. Mr Skerrett, -who appeared for defendants, was granted leave to apply for a nonsuit, and Sir John Findlay, for the plaintiff, asked for a new trial. Mr Justice Chapman said that leave for the latter was unnecessary.
