After being marooned for eleven weeks on Malden Island the mariners were surprised to find the American schooner Annio Larsen piled up on the same reef. Tho schooner’s crew joined tho party, bring--ing much-needed supplies. The captain of the John Murray had already left in an endeavour to reach Fanning Island to obtaim'help. As no word arrived at the end of five days the chief officer left for Penrhyn Island. Nothing has been heard of cither since.
