SYSTEM OF PRIORITY PERMITS ADOPTED.
The Hon.-Arthur Myers (Minister in Cnarge of Munitions and Supplies) „catea yesteraay that advice had been received from -the Government of India notifying that they had decided to introduce a system ot priority procedure in regard to exports from India ot articles on the list of prohibited exports to British Possessions. This step had been taken with a view to conserving supplies in India, and owing to increased demands for direct war purposes. The Government of India had been compelled to this procedure by the same considerations which had influenced other countries which were-, directly l • for. the maintenance of large military forces in the held. .' ..... . .. “In connection with the priority procedure (said the Minister) it is not possible at the moment to accurately classify the Irticles. that require priority certificates to facilitate their export from India; and to enumerate them wouid be equauv difficult, for individual items are subject to constant change according to the supply and demand." He stated, however, that in case of doubt he would recommend interested parties to cominumcate with their representatives in India tor acivice; and. should it then be found that priority certificates would ho helplul, his department would be pleased to tako action. , . .
