Loan and Mercantile Agency. ■ The Loan and Mercantile Agency reports : On Tuesday we held a dispersal sale on account of Messrs J. R. Anderson and Go-v oftT'iakitahuna, who have disposed’ of.gthgip. property. There was-.a■-very large attendance of buyers—outside districts being , well represented. The stock generally showed the effect of the recent rough weather, but. in spite of this, competition was extremely brisk throughout. The registered herd of milking Shorthorns realised the following prices; Best cows 43 to 60 guineas, and up to 81 guineas for the cow “Lena,” with a good milk ' record, and HI guineas for the well-known prize-taking oow “Beauty," who has an exceptionally good milking record. Other cows made from 'ls j.to’ 32 guineas. The top prices' for trwd-year heifers were 69 and 67 guineas for daughters of “Beauty” and “Lena" respectively. Other heifers made 24 to 50 guineas, and small and backward sorts 8 to 18 guineas. The yearling heifers elicited keen competition, realising prices ranging from 20 to 53 guineas and averaging 35i guineas. The bulls also sold well—l2l guineas being ?aid for a nine-months-old son of “Beauy." Others made 36 to 65 guineas. The 3-year bull “Robotane King 7 * fetched 63 , guineas, 'and the |6-year-old' “Prince Florist’’ 10 guineas. Grade cows sold up to -£23 10s, the herd of 22 averaging -£lO 15s. Mixed yearlings -£3 15s, 6-year gelding -S2O, milk cart horse JSB 10s,' 4year gelding -612. On Wednesday at Palmerston North, we, in conjunction with the associated, auctioneers, held our second annual springing heifer sale. The entry hardly came up to advertised numbers and the quality was only fair.. Prices, in consequence, were not high. We sold the whole of our entry with the exception of two pens. ‘We quote;—Two-year springing heifers £7, £7 2s 6d, J 37 7s 6d, £7 15s, -88 2s 6d, -68 15s, good 3-year springing heifers -610 7s 6d. -610 10s, ,610 17s 6d, -612 10s, .613, -614.
