MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD BOY IN COURT. Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 22. William Edward Hart, aged fifteen, to-day was committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter arising out of Ine death of Leonard Buchanan Cavanagh, aged twelve, who was shot at Otahuhu on Saturday afternoon. Tho evidence of deceased’s brother, aged was to tho effect that: when- he and deceased mot accused and two other boys in a paddock. Hart, at a distance of twenty yards, said, “Charge,” lifted a gun to his shoulder and fired. Another hov with Hart said the latter, did not lift tho gun right to his shoulder, hut fired from his chest. Sergeant Harvey said that accused made a statement in which he said ho puC a cartridge into tho gun on tho road and when he fired ho forgot it was loaded. Hart pleaded not guilty, reserving his defence.
