Williams, third of the Rosamond, have exchanged positions. . The Baden Powell is now expected back at Wellington on Sunday night from New Plymouth, and is to sail on the i-eturn trip on Monday. The Kowhai, which arrived at- Wellington yesterday from Greyiliouth, is to sail on the return trip to-morrow. The Kamona is to get away from Wellington at 5 p.m. to-day tor Greymouth. Tho Magic is about to take a load ,of coal from Puponga to flSandy Bay, where she will lift a cargo of stone for Wellington. Mr C. Monaghan, third engineer of the Kamo, had a narrow escape from serious injuries, if not death, while the vessel was at Greymouth, last week. After tea he was goiiig to his cabin when he. missed his footing, and stumbled down the hold. He had a wonderful escape, getting off with a-few bruises. -- The Ngakuta left Dunedin at 2 p.m. yesterday with general cargo for Wellington. She is due here to-morrow morning, and will sail .to-morrow evening for Greymouth. The Himitongi will leave Wellington at 10 o'clock this.morning for Lyttelton, from which port ah© is due back here on Saturday. The vessel will sail from here at noon on Monday for Owenga and Kaingaroa (Chathams). Tho Ngahere left Timaru at 10 o’clock last might for WeUington with a cargo of produce. Last month the Auckland Harbour Board received a communication from the Under-Secretary of Mjarine, asking the hoard’s opinion on a resolution passed by the Wellington Harbour Board, to the effect that all Abo nr on the waterfront should be controlled 1 and managed bv harbour boards. Waterside workers at Part Plrie are dissatisfied with tho conditions under which the coal grab—a mechanical labour-saving contrivance for loading coal—is being worked since the big industrial dispute tost year. Morris, general secretary of the Waterside Workers’ Union, and two delegates from the Port Plrie branch of tho society, that tho rates fixed by tho Arbitration Court were'not being paid, and the deputation asked 1 that the old conditions should bo reverted to. The Minister promised te have ■ the matter investigated, but he stated subsequently that ho had informed the deputation that ho did not feel disposed to discharge the .twenty-eight men employed working the grab.
