FRIESIAN CATTLE BREEDERS
A VERY SUCCESSFUL TEAR. (From Our Special Reporter.) PALMERSTON NORTH. June 19. The annual meeting of the New, Zealand Friesian Association was held, tonight, breeders from all parts of the ■Dominion being present. Mr E. C. .Bank (Matamata) presided. The balance-sheet showed receipts X 1147, exxienditure X 1129 (including X 430 invested in war loans), assets X 2453, liabilities nil. The report stated -that a very successful year had been experienced. A number of new members hod joined the association, milking and butter-fat records had been broken, and an increased number of cows and heifers were put under test. The demand for first-cuiss animals in the Dominion and inquiries from outside showed that there was no diminution in progress. The prospects, despite itihe war, wore distinctly encouraging for breeders. It was urged Fiat as many cows 1 and heifers as possible should be tested. The milk record for the year was broken by a cow owned by J. Donald, of Wanganui, which gave 21,133 .pounds of milk, 951.96 pounds of biiltoril'ait, and wins the breeders’ XSO prize for the first coiv to produce over 900 pounds of butter-fat. Another of J. Donald’s cows produced 21,130 pounds of milk and, 945 pounds of butler-fat, equalling the American record. Messrs J. 11.' Parkinson And N. E. Leighton were elected members Qf the council. Mr G. C. Bnckland (Cambridge) was elected president.
