PALMERSTON NORTH SHOW PROSPECTS GOO© FOR ANNUAL FAIR. LIST OF AWARDS IN VATUOrS CLASSES. (From Our Special Reporter.) PALMERSTGN NORTH, June 17. The weather prospects for the sixteenth annual National Dairy Show which opens to-morrow are bright. An army of workers is in. evidence making preparations. The town is crowded with visitors and accommodation is taxed to the utmost. Thero are 254 entries in the. dairy produce class, 151 bejnjr for factory cheeks and 111 for factory butter. In the horticultural and agricultural division file entries number 2359; in fruit, vegetables, etc., 522; tanners' butter and home industries, 231; needlework, 110; photography, 23; deer heads, 8; ring competitions, S 3; poultry, 1088. In the factory butter competition 2i points were obtained by each exhibitor and 25 points for colouring and salting in all classes except sixth class, in which Awahuri, Golden Bay, Hikurangi, Levin, and Mauriceville lost half a point for body and texture, and the B&Uance, Moa, and Aria factories one point.

For South Island Factories—Kaitangata (A. J. lleenan), 1. Championship (aggregate in classes 8, 9, and 10—Taratahi <F. Podorsen), 283, 1; Belvedere (C. Gallon), 282}, 2; Dalefiold (J. Linton), 278}, 3. The cheese exhibits were described as up to if not Jibove, the average. Reporting on them the judges said that the quality of tho cheese was well up to show standard. The winning exhibits wore hard to separate, being of very line quality. The body and texture was generally very uniform. Tho appearance of tho cheese left little to bo desired, being clean and free from mould, indicating that they had received good attention and care at tho hands of the Wanganni Ereezinz Company, at whose works clieeses were stored in some instances. The cheeses should have received a little more attention at tho hands of - tho makers.

In tho points prizes Taratahi factory was first, with Belvedere second in tivn classes. Belvedere carried off the honours in the aggregate .in first classes, Kuitangata hiintj tho \rinning: factory among South Island exhibitors.
