SALVATION ARMY AT FRONT
WARM TRIBUTE FROM SIR DOUGLAS HAIG.
Fied-Marshal Sir Douglas Haig has written from British Headquarters in Franoe io the head of the Salvation Army (General Booth) a very, appreciative letter, copies of which have been distributed to heads of the latter organisation throughout tho world. In the letter, which is dated March 27th, the British Commandor-in-Chief says; “I am glad ,to have tho opportunity of congratulating the Salvation Army on the service which its representatives have rendered during the past year to British armies in Franoe. Salvation Army workers have shown themselves of the right sort and I value their presence hero as being one of the best influences on moral and spiritual welfare of the troops at bases. The inestimable value of these influences was realised when the moral of the troops was afterwards put to the test. At tho front, huts which the Salvation Army have staffed, have, besides, been greatly appreciated. I shall be glad if you will convey thanks of all ranks of British Expeditionary Forces in _ France to the Salvation Army for its continued good work.”
