RECENT CASUALTIES CORPORAL G. S. SHORT. Corporal Gilbert Stouliam Short* whc was reported ivovuicleci, is tue socona eldest sou of Mrs Jiu bliort, Brougham avenue, Wellington. He left witn tho SOth Heinioroements. Prior to his enlistment he was in business in Hastings in tho firm. Messrs Baker-Gab and Short. He was educated at Wellington College and served Ms time with Messrs JLuue and Co., and for several years went tc sea. Ho holds a first-class marine engineer’s certificate. Hi* brother, Lieut-enant-Colon©! Laurence, Wellington Infantry Regiment, is at present in Prance. Another brother, Sergeant-Major Aubrev Short, of the Medical Corps, has returned to New Zealand and is at present at the Christchurch Hospital, Another brother. Private Leslie Short, was killed in action on August 6th. The three last named brother* left with the Ist Reinforcement and saw service in Gallipoli. GUNNER N. SHEIMPTON. Gunner Norman Shrimpton, who has been reported killed in -action, is a son of Mr E. A. Shrimpton, Rongofcal terrace, Wellington. Ho was attached bo tho Field Artillery and left with the 26th Reinforcements. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School and Wellington College. Later he proceeded to Victoria College, where ho won a bursiras a professional cadet, in the Hector Observatory and was assistant to • * Adams. He has been in France since November 2nd. Gunner Shrimpton was in his 2lst year. GUNNER H. P. HAMILTON. Gunner Hans Porter Hamilton, who has been reported wounded, is a eon of Mr H. H. Hamilton. P'irie street. Welbngtpn. Ho was attached to the Field Artillery and left with tho 2Gth Reinforcements. Up to the time of his enlistment he was employed by Messrs A. and T. Burt. Gunned Hamilton/ who was 21 years of age, wag wounded in France. RIFLEMAN W. R. STAUB. Mr J. A. Staub. Adelaide road, has been advised of the deatn in action of hk> son,. Rifleman William Reuben Staub. Ho was educated at the Normal School, Ihorndon, and after the completion of Us education joined tho clerical staff of Messrs Kerr’s, forwarding agents. He was nineteen years at the time of his enlistment. and left with the 23rd Reinforcements. He was reported missing on October 23rd. but later advice was to the effect that, ho had been killed in action. At the time of big, death he was dispatch carrying. His brother, Corporal H. G. Staub, left with the 35th Reinforcements. Another brother, Rifleinaa A* Staub, who left with tb© 23rd Reinforcements, is at present in a convalescent hospital.
