(By Eileen.) WANGANIfi, April 23. A sale of work was held on Saturday in aid of the Girls' Friendly Hostel. Tho amount taken was highly satisfactory. In the evening a muSioale was held in the Girls' College, half the proceeds to go to thg Hostel- also~;.v *« « Miss Ada Reeve was entertained by the returned soldiers and "Swankers" clubs on. Saturday afternoon.- The function took place at the Returned Soldiers' Club. - ■—- <■•——-—— -

On Sunday evening-a. concert was-held in His Majesty's, when "The Swankers" Oiub was assisted br • Miss Ada Reeve and local talent.— T-ho sum of -JCS3 odd was taken at the doors, which worked out at'3d per head. —Miss-Reeve said she nover sang for a good cause under ,£IOO in the house, bo a flas was laid on. the stage and with promises and money thrown on JK2O4 ■ 14s was raised. Part is to be used to purchase a gramaphona (or the soldiers' ward-and the rest is to go to tho Soldiers' Club house fund. On Monday .afternoon the returned soldiers'' ward was quite en fete, when ilis's Ada Reeve and hor company enter. taiued the sick and wounded men. rho ward was most -beautifully decorated, tho flowers being golden brown chrysanthemums, pink and while cosmos, and Michaelmas daisies, interspersed with, pot plants. A splendid musical programme was gone through. Miss Reeve was handed a beautiful bouquet from the returned boys. Private Dickson made tho - presentation, and thanked her and her company for the thought that prompted tho visit. Miss Reeve was nlso given a dainty grey silk bag, two iirinps of beads, and a money case, all the work of the soldiers., Afternoon tea v-s «errcd. afier which Miss Eecve was naked to present tho phonograph ■(a very line one) to the soldiers.. With the cramaph'ono 'were some very , choice records, a gift from herself.' She also personally handed round cigars and cigarettes. -
