OUTPUT PGR SEASON PURCHASED BY BRITAIN. SHIPPING POSITION SATISPACTORT. “I want to make It perfectly clear,” stated tlie Prime Minister (the Right Son, W. P. Massey) to a “Times” representative on Saturday, “that the output of butter and cheese for the season which has now commenced has been purchased by the Imperial authorities. All that now remains to be done is with regard to some details which are of undoubted importance to the producers, but which I have no doubt —-and I am going by cable mcs. sages that have passed within the last tew days—will be satisfactorily arranged as between the New Zealand Government and tho representatives of the Imperial Government. I have arranged to meet the representative* of tho dairy industry on Wednesday next, and I believe that this will ho tho final meeting for the season.’ 1 The Prime Minister added that, while he was not at liberty to publish the names of the Ships coming to New Zealand to take away our produce, ho was able to say that the outlook at present was better than it had been for some time post. Tho Shipping Controller's Department and tho Board of Trade, with tho now Pood Controller, were evidently anxious to considerably reduce the quantity of meat and dairy produce in Now Zealand stores before wo got into full swing with the new season’s operations, and he was noiv confident that this would bo done.
