Auguste Rodin, probably t.ho greatest sculptor since Michael Angelo, was bom in Paris in 1840. Ho was a workman in the ateliers of Baryo and Carrier Belleuso from 1864 till 1870, and achieved world-wide fame by _ a series of wonderful sculptures, including busts of famous Frenchmen such as Victor Hugo and Balzac. Amongst his other works are The Creation of Man, The Gate of Hell, Spring, War, Psycho, Brother and Sister, The Eternal Idol. Ho was a D.O.L. (Oxford) and president of the International Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers.
