A recent cable message stated that Turmel, a member of thes French Chamber of Deputies, left Swiss banknotes worth £IOOO in a room m the Chamber last July, and did not claim them until the middle of September, when he explained that ho had received the money for legal services. Ho denied that ho had received it in Switzerland for disclosing the events of the secret session of tho Chamber ot Deputies in June.
