COST OF LIVING

COMMITTEE'S REPORT. TO BE PRESENTED NEXT MONDAY. “Can the Prime Minister tell the House when the report of the Cost of Living Committee will bo laid on the table; and will he give members time in which to study the report and a day to discuss it, instead of their having, as usual, to debate it without having seen it?” asked Dr Newman, M.P., in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Mr Massey replied that the report would have been laid on the table and discussed last Monday bulb for the adjournment on account of the death of the late Hon. J. D. Ormond. He proposed to bring the report down next Monday. Dr Newman: “Will you allow us to look at it first?” Mr Massey: “That is a matter for the committee. (Laughter.) Personally I would have no objection. The committee will meet on Friday to decide.” ' (Hear, hear.)
