END OF GREAT MELBOURNE SEASON. , (From a Sydney Paper.) Miss Ada Reeve concluded her wonderful season to-night, amidst scenes of enthusiasm unparalleled since the erection of the Tivoli Theatre. To secure a seat was like looking for a five-pound note in Collins street. Tho booking office was rushed at 9 in the morning, and a largo staff was employed to cope with the patrons. In response to cries of “Speech, v Miss Reeve advanced nervously to the footlights, saying, “Thank you all for your great - support in my effort to raise money for tho Anzac Buffet in London. Yesterday’s matinee result was over a thousand pounds. (Loud cheering.) lam cabling £SOOO ■to London on Monday as Victoria’s contribution-. (Prolonged _ applause.) 1 don’t wish to take undue credit, but it speaks volumes that my appeal of three weeks ago lias resulted so finely —that a mere woman has been able to inspire you to-day to loosen your purse-strings.” . An elderly male voice: “You are an angel.” (Frantic cheering and “You bet she is” from the soldiers.) Miss Reeve': “No; I’m not an angel; just a mere woman—that's all. (Applause.) Well done, Melbourne. You have made me the happiest woman on earth, so good-night, and God bless you, one and all.” (Wiki and frantic cheering.) .An elderly male voice shouted: “Now,, everyone, give three cheers for Angelic Ada Reeve,” and the theatre simply shook with applause. *
