Sir Douglas Haig reports: We drove back raiders eastward of Kloinzillobenn. Artillery activity continues on the Ypres front. Enemy aeroplanes, bombed various places, including a hospital area, causing a few casualties. Wo brought down a raider. Our aeroplanes and balloons co-ope-rated with the artillery yesterday. Despite vigorous attacks, wo scoured a record number ot photographs, many being taken from great distances behind the lines. Enemy aeroplanes are disinclined to fight except well east of the-lino. We brought down thirteen. Seven of ours are missing. LONDON,'September 5. In another report Sir Douglas Haig states: Wo drove off raiders in the neighbourhood of Armentieres. Agreement between the party leaders has assured the passage of the War Bond Bill for 11,538,000,000 dollars, which is the largest financial appropriation. ever proposed. It includes four billions advanced to the Allies. The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr W. G. McAdoo, announced additional loans of 100,000,000 dollars each to Great Britain and Franco. The Japanese -Mission to-day appeared in Cdngress, and was enthusiastically received. The leader of the mission. Viscount lahii, in an address, warned Congress of plots to sow discord between the United States and Japan. “Our co-operation should protect us from these forces of evil," he said. “We bring an assurance of Japan’s fullest support in order to defeat Germany.”
