STRANDED OPOURI

HAULING VESSEL TOWARDS SHORE. Press Association. GREYMOUTH. September S. Since 6 o’clock this morning, the Harcoui Board staff, with the aid of a locomotive, has been hauling the stranded, coastal steamer Opouri towards the shore. The object is to reach a sandy beach. Considerable progress was made, and it is hoped to get the vessel clear of the rocks to-day. The covers of the main hatches were Washed off last night, and it is feared that the perishable cargo has been destroyed.
