A very old resident of Hawke’s Bay, Mr Andrew Gilmour, passed quietly away at his residence, Brewster street, Napier, on. Friday evening, at the ripo age of seventy-three years. Coming to New Zealand in the early ’sixties, the late Mr Gilmour had resided for over fifty years in this province. lie fought through the .Maori war, and had seen many changes in this province. ' Ho was for twenty-five years engineer to the Wiaipawa County Conncil and various road boards and town, boards throughout the province, and during that time had designed and .carried out many important works, some of which are still remaining as a monument of his skill and thoroughness. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, and one of tho founders of. Lodge Aberdeen. Ho enjoyed the esteem and confidence of oT very wide circle of friends, being known and respected by . all classes of the community, and those who worked with him or under his direction over found in him a 'sincere friend, as well ns conscientious official to those bodies by 1 whom ho was employed. Ho will be deeply mourned by many, and to his' widow', and family of four sons and four daughters, a strong feeling of sympathy will go forth. " Trooperf C. P.
