UNIONISTS BENEFIT
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT AND DANCE.
A grand concert and . dance in aid o» tho wives and children of unionists in distress was hold at the Town Hall last evening, under tho auspices of the Wellington Waterside Workers’ Band and New Zealand Variety Entertainers. There was a thronged attendance, and a long programme of musical items proved most enjoyable. The Watersiders’ Band, under the conductorship of Bandmaster J. J. Drew, marched through the city to tho Town Hall, and during the evening gave pleasurable selections. The variety Entertainers’ orchestra was conducted by Mr W. T. Parsons. The entertainment was conducted hy Mr J. G. Bmco, and ho was assisted by Messis L. Glover, 11. Sayers, J. Roberto, and J. Green as M.C.’s, Mr W. Mack as stage manager. Mr J. O’Brien as his assistant, Mr Hugh Callaghan as treasurer, and Mr.G. Matthews as secretary. As a large number of tickets ■have been sold during the past two weeks, tho proceeds of tho concert and dance will reach a substantial amount.
