W. Grainger, general manager of the South Taranaki Shipping Co-, arrived, back at AVeUington yesterday morning from Lyttelton, where he has been - in connection with th© docking at that port of his company’s' steamer Hawera. Mr Grainger told a. “Times" representative that Mr Jack Miller is carrying out the shipwright repairs to tho vessel, and opportunity is being taken of tho vessel’s stay in dock to give her the usual annual survey and overhaul. The engineering work is being performed by Anderson and Co., Ltd.,; Lyttelton. The Hawera will arrive back at Wellington next Friday from Lyftelton, and will sail on the following day for Pa tea in. her usual running. Mr Grainger will leave for his headquarters at Patea this morning. THE MORiNING *LIGHT. After a lot of delay the New' Zealand Refrigerating Company's auxiliary schooner Morning Light sailed from Lyttelton for Wanganui at 3 o'clock on Thursday afternoon. Captain Charles drencher, well known in AVellington, is in command, and Messrs Sullivan and Bnln. from Meslsrs A n persons. signed on as engineers in order to take the ship up to Wanganui, where she will be used as a lighter for frozen meat.; WOOTTON~ii?SUMBS TO-DAY. • The Eaiapoi Shipping and Trading Company’s steamer AVootton, which was tpwed back to port on Wednesday night with a broken connecting rod; is expected to be ready to sail at noon today for Lyttelton, instead of Puponga as first intended. The new connecting rod has been made by J. J. Niven and Co. The vessel is due back at Weiling,ton.,on Tuesday night, and is to sail on Wednesday for Lyttelton again. MAPOUEIKA LEFT GREYMOUTH. The Union Company’s steamer Mapourika left Greymouth f t U. 30 o’clock yesterday morning on the return trip to Westport, Nelson, and AVellington. The vessel arrived at Westport at 7.35 o’clock last night, and is duo here to-morrow morning. CORINNA’S ITINERARY. The Corinna got away from Aldington last evening for Nelson and New Plymouth. From the latter port the ves. sel will go to Picton to load a cargo of chaff for Onohunga. She will afterwards return to Now Plymouth to load dairy produce for AVellington, and should leave this port about. August 12th for Dunedin. Tho Corinna should therefore arrive back at Dunedin about August 14th and will sail again about that data for Now Plymouth via tho usual way ports. KOAUDBLAYED. Telegraphic advice was received in Wellington yesterday that the now auxiliary scow, Koau, built at Kaipara for Richardson and Co., of Napier, had not yet sailed for AVellington. The message added that the vessel was expected to got away last night with a full cargo of timber, for Wellington.. THE HINEMOA. The Government steamer Hinemoa got away from Wellington last' evening for Lyttelton direct, en route to the southern lighthouses. Owing to the quantity of cargo on board there will he no room for cargo for the AVest Coast sounds and bays until the vessel reaches Bluff, where it will be shipped- The Hinemoa will be absent from Wellington for about four weeks. WAKATU WEATHER-BOUND. The coastal steamer AA 7 akatu has been delayed by bad weather for the past two days at Kaikonra, and has been anchored in South Bay. The vessel will endeavour to work Kaikoura to-day, and should reach AA T ellington to-night. The AVakatu is to leave here on Monday evening for Kaikonra and Lyttelton. THE HIMITANGI. The steamer Himitangi arrived at AVellrngton yesterday afternoon from .Timaru arid Lyttelton, and berthed at No. 13, north. Queen's wharf, to put out 200 tons of cargo. The vessel is now fixed to sail from AVellington at sis o’clock this evening for Owenga. Kaingaroa. and Whangaroa. She is doe back here Monday, tho 13th inst, direct from the Chathams.
