MAGISTRATE’S COURT Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., presided at yesterday’s sitting ot the Magistrate’s Court. ' I ; Eight first offenders were'dealt with for drunkenness. George Perrin and Andrew Hope were fined 20s or seven days’ imprisonment, and John McKinnon and Harry Spencer 40s, or 14 days and seven days respectively. Maintenance cases were dealt with as follow: —Albert Walter Cook was ordered to pay £7 or 14 days’ imprisonment. George Henry Bradley, who was £8 oe in arrears, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, the warrant being delayed until, application is made by the complainant. Herbert Moffatt was ordered to pay £5 and costs, in default a month’s imprisonment. ' Henry Frederick Elliott, of Gore, who was charged with failing to provide for his wife and family, was remanded for a week, bail being allowed in £IOO with two sureties of £SO each.
