From Our Own Correspondent. OTAKI,. Frida?. Tho invalided soldiers who have been recuperating at the Otaki Sanatorium, left for Cambridge by the Auckland express yesterday afternoon, and. the female patients from tho Cambridge Sanatorium are expected to arrive in Otaki to-morrow. The soldiers speak highly of their treatment at the “San,” and refer in glowing terms'to the kindness of the Otaki public, who have provided much amusement. The two billiard-tables, given by the public of Otaki, will bo sent on to Cambridge.. Private G. Tattersall was last night entertained by tho Otaki Knitting Club and presented with a wristlet watch. A presentation of a wristlet watch has been made to Private W. Burns Smith, junr., by the combined Otaki Hookey Association and the Otaki Hockey dub. Mr Smith for a considerable time was secretary of both organisations. He was also a leading player, and his. dash on the field was equal to the energy he put into his secretarial duties. H<j is now a member of the 30th Reinforcements. The Otaki Bowling Club green, thanks to tho energies of some of the members, now presents a very creditable surface, and By the time the season opens should he in fine order. The club hopes to have a successful season. Mr Bert Larkin assumed his duties as stationrnaster on Wednesday, after a few weeks’ furlough. Mr Boswell, who was relieving, has gone on to Shannon to relieve Mr Tom Greatbatch, who goes on holiday. A branch of the Horowhenua County Patriotic Association has been formed at Paekakariki. An attempt will he made to form a branch at To Horo, and thus bring all towns along the HorovaClenua line under one association.
