MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE AND CIVIL CASES. Mi- W. G. Riddell. S.M., presided over yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Conn, when the following cases were dealt with. Thomas Benson, for drunkenness, was convicted and fined 20s, in default three ilays' imprisonment. John Cogan appeared on charges of being drunk, assaulting Arthur Henry Rogers, and with failing to quit licensed'premises when requested to do so. Defendant, who created a disturbance in the Gresham Hotel, pleaded guilty, and was lined 40s on each charge- As an alternative he was given .the option of going to gaol tor twenty-ono day,?. George Browse was fined 20s for insobriety, and on a. further charge of using foul language in Buckle street was sentenced lo ewenty-eno days’ imprisonment. Thomas Brown, a First Division Reservist, for failing to make application to enrol, was convicted and fined 40s, in default seven dsys’ imprisonment. Michael Francis Carrick, lor disorderly conduct while drunk, was mulcted to tho extent of 40s. in default to serve seven days in prison. CIVIL CASES.
