WHY?
To the Editor "N.Z. Times.” Sir,—Foolish world. Foolish people. Foolish questions. Fools! Why, when! you are perspiring digging in the garden, does your neighbour ,say: "Doing a bit of gardening?" Why, when you ate walking down Cuba street, and the rain is running down your neck and into your boots, does an acquaintance greet you with, "Wet, isn't rtf” This questioning habit is catching: I’ve just caught it, so here goes.! "What's happened to the Patriotic Society?” Metaphorically speaking, "Who trod, upon its tail?” "Why'all the resignations?” Mr Wilford, Mr Colley, and Mr Lewis have resigned. Why? No ihore art unions. Why? Proposed purchase of Duthie's bouse at Nainai, which was bought by a patriotic gentleman and was offered to the Patriotic Society, with no increase on the pur* chase price, turned down. Why? No more Captain McLaglan. Why ? Big explanation re formation and doing ol society in the "New Zealand Times’l the other day. Why ? No more travel-) ling expenses re art union for disposal of land in Waikato. Why?—l am, otc.J "WHY?"
