Mr R. Hampton (president of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants), who had just returned from a tour embracing Palmerston North, Taihape, Ohakune, Taumarunui, Te K.uiti, New Plymouth, Stratford, Ha* wera,' and Wanganui, stated to a “Times” representative yesterday that ho had addressed largely-attended meetings of the local branch of toe A.S.B-S. at each of these centres. He had explained to each branch the reasons for and the method of conducting the Railway Department’s ballot in connection with the calling up of employees of the department for military service; and the members generally had expressed themselves as satished with the system and with the balloting methods adopted. At To Kuiti, where a previous meeting of toe society had carried a strongly condemnatory motion with regard to the hadot, and had forwarded it to the ActingPremier, toe members, at toe conclusion of his address and his answers to questions, carried a resolution endorsing the ballot system adopted as being the fairest method. g3f*esißesisiiis ‘HEAN’S Essence I I is really splendid for Bronchitis.
