It is perhaps too soon to judge oi t.lie effect of raising the minimum tram fare to threepence on Sundays. The last two Sundays have been wet, and there has been nothing like ilie ilEUrtraffic on the city trams. But rent opinion appears to bo that the rule which has been specially brought into operation with the avowed object of reducing the Sunday traffic will be ineffective- - The majority of Sunday travellers want to go more than two sections, and if people are in a hurryon the Sunday to accomplish a shorter distance, they do not mind parting with an odd threepence on what is regarded as a rare occasion. The popular view: of the move which lias been made at the instance of the city engineer is that if any attempt is made to reduce the number of trams on Sunday, on fine day? they will bo considerably overcrowded. One or two more Sundays will disclose the actual situation.
