The association feels that their death has bereft both the university and tho State of two most promising citizens, Tho Rhodes trustees decided that, owing to the death of Athol Hudson (the 1916 scholar) before his having taken up the scholarship, two Rhodes scholarships should bo av liable for New Zealand for the year 1917. The nomineesof the college were Sergeant A- F. Meldrum and Mr H. A. Mackenzie.
