The Northern Company's summer excursions from Auckland ended after the Easter holidays, with the exception of the Arkle’a Bay week-end service, which continues until the 27th inst. The Blackball Company’s steamer Ngatoro was to have left Lyttelton yesterday with a load of cattle for Wanganui. The Pacific Mail Steamship Company last year earned 83 per cent, on its investment of -£206,000 in tho operation of its Panama fleet of steamers, according to the annual report to the stockholders. . The departure of the Defender from Wellington for Picton and Hokitika has been postponed till this afternoon. Mr T. Lyons, chief officer of tho Orenuki, has signed off the vessel's articles. Captain P. A. Petersen. Wellington representative of Richardson and Co., Napier, informed a "New Zealand Times" representative yesterday that all the wool has been collected between Wellington and Napier. Rain prevented the transfer of coal from the Canopus to the Jubilee, yesterday. The work is expected to be completed to-day, and the steamer will sail for Auckland with the hulk in tow. Advices .received by the mail state that several more vessels well-known in Australian. waters have recently changed owners. The vessels include the Norwegian steel barque Alcides, 2492 tons register, which Mr 0. W. Henricksen, of Risor, disposed of to the Skibsakter "Noreg" (T. Sunt and T. M. Holt) of Christiania, the steel barque Lauriston, 2133 tons register, built b- Messrs Workman, Clark, and Co., at Belfast, in 1892, and sold to the Hudson Bay Company (Sale and Co., London) bv Messrs Eggar, Forrester, and Parker, the ship Ainsdale, which was built in 1599 at a cost of £33.263. and realised £35,000, also the Japanese steamer Shinko Mnru. ex Woodford, which realised £19,000 in May. 1914. and has now changed owners at £150.000. WORK AT THE SLIP. The New Plymouth dredge Paritutn will be brought off the Wellington patent slip at 8.30 o'clock this morning, and will come round to town to complete her overhaul. The Wellington dredge Whakarire will bo taken up on the cradle this afternoon, and will remain on for three or four days. The Government cahle-rcpair steamer Tntanekai will subsequently be placed on the slip for annual survey. LIVE STOCK FOR PETONE. The Anchor Company's steamer Kennedy is due at Wellington to-day from Woitapu with sheep and cattle for Petonc. After discharge the vessel will

proceed to Picton to load more sheep for Petono. THE HONOWAI. Duo at Wellington this morning from Dunedin and Lyttelton the Union Company's steamer Monowai will berth at No. 1. north touter tee). Tho coastal steamer Wootton is due at Wellington to-day with 120 tons of produce from Lyttelton and will berth at No. 12, Jervois quay. The vessel will load general cargo and sail tonight on the return trip. AUCKLAND TIME SIGNALS. The Auckland Harbour Board has notified that the time-signal which is shown from the tower ol the l-erry Building by a system of night signals by electric lights will in future be sent at the exact hour G.M.T.—i.e., at 21 hours of G.M.T. corresponding.to 8r 30m of New Zealand mean time instead of 9 p.m. as at present. The following lights will be shown from the flagstaff of tho Ferry Building: Green light switched on at 7h 40m P Red light switched on at 8h 20m p.m. White liffht switched on at 8h 25m p.m. All lights switched off at 8h 30m p.m., equal to 21h 00m G.M.T. The Government Astronomer has agreed to transmit two signals a week, if observations have been, obtained, on Tuesdays and Friday.
