SOME MINOR CASES, Mr L- G. Eeid, S.M., presided at yes.terday’s sitting of the Magistrate's 'Court. , , ... Tour first offenders were dealt with for drunkenness. James Henley and John McLaughlin were fined 20s, in default seven days’ imprisonment. James Miller had his bail of 20s estreated. John Leonard, charged with being found helplessly drunk in Lambton quay, was remanded until the 9th instant for medical tieatment. William and David John Pouthee. charged ‘with having on the 31st ult. stolon a sheep -of the value of .£2, the property of some unlnxown person, were remanded until tho 9lh instant. William Patrick Black, who was found early on the 26th ult sleeping in a Harbour Board shed, was charged with vagrancy. He pleaded insobriety and a desire to get to work. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Maintenance cases were dealt with ae follow: —James Brown, in whose case the arrears were XII 10s, was ordered to pay the amount by instalments of 10s .per week or serve one month in gaol. In the case of Walter Lacey Colo the arrears were reduced from X9S Is 8d to XoO, and the defendant was ordered to extinguish the debt by instalments of 5s a week or remain in gaol for fourteen days. Frederick Edwards was ordered to pay the sum of XI as within one week, or undergo seven days’ imprisonment. John Skipper was ordered to pay 10s a week off arrears totalling X 3 10s or serve seven days in gaol-
