WATERSIDE CONFERENCE
AGREEMENT REACHED INCREASE IN RATES OF PAT. Tho conference between representatives o£ the shipping companies and waterside workers of Now Zealand, which has been sitting in 'Wellington for some time past, concluded at ti.dO o’clock hist evening, when a complete agreement was arrived at. The new agreement contains a clause which provides for an increase in the present rates of pay of Hd per hour, lo remain in operation during vne period of the war. The hours oi engagement have been shortened, ana conditions improved generally. At the end of Inst week an agreement was arrived at by the conference ia respect to working conditions, excepting a few local conditions winch werJ referred to the local disputes committee.
