HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Tho Department of Agriculture. Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram* dated Londoji, March 24th, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note—Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) Meat—All descriptions of frozen, meat in, active demand owing to short snpply. Only a small quantity under Government control has been released each week for home consumption. New Zealand mutton, per lb, S|cl; ewe mutton, tiid. Argentine mutton, heavyweight, lljd; lightweight, ll|d. New Zealand lamb. lOd. Argentine lamb, 13d. New Zealand and Argentine beef, no supplies available. Pork, lid.

Butter—Maximum prices are unchanged for both butter and cheese, and will remain, in force until April 13th. Lower prices being quoted for colonial butters. Buyers are holding back partly owing to ‘ uncertainty .of maximum nrices,' New Zealand butter, unsalted. 294 s to 212 s per cwt; salted, 210 sto 218 s. Australian salted, 202 sto 208 s; unsalted, 200 sto 29te. French, 2t2s to 2i7s.

Cheese —The market, continues firm. Canadian white and coloured, 162 s English Cheddar, 105 s. Dutch- Cheddar, loOs. States flats, 160 s. Hemp—The market is firm at the advance. Supply falls short of the demand. Quotations are nominal. Good fair New Zealand, £74; fair, .£7O.
