In the Appeal Court yesterday morn-j ing Sir John Dennistpn was congratulated by members of the Bar on ,t)io honour bestowed upon him by the King. Sir Francis Bell, who acted as spokesman, said it was a fitting recog' nition of long and honourable services. .The Chief Justice / (Sir Robert Stout) said the Bench was gratified at the honour meted out to Sir John Denniston, whoso work had been successfully and conscientiously., carried out. Mr R. Fox. sewerage engineer to tho Petone Borough Council, who leaved the council’s employ at the end of March, was presented 1 last evening with a testimonial by tho Mayor anjj councillors. The Mayor, who made th® presentation, said that Sir Fox had striven to give the borough a good job and he had succeeded. Visitors from Hastings, New Plymouth and Thames, as well as Mayors of other centres and * large number of engineers, had expressed the opinion that the borough would have a sanitary system that was quite up to date. Councillors also expressed their appreciation of the ex., cellent services rendered to the borough by the retiring engineer. Mr Foj suitably replied.
