Thursday from Dunedin with general cargo, is to proceed from here to Pieton and Gisborne. The Blackball Coal Co/s steamer Ngakuta is to leavo Qrcymouth to-night with a full load of coal for Wellington, Where she is due to-morrow night or on Wednesday morning. The loading of tho steamer Glaucus at Westport has been cancelled. She takes timber from Bluff for Melbourne. The Government steamer Hinemoa crossed tho Kaipara bar outwards at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and arrived at Onehunga in the evening. She is due at Wellington on Wednesday evening or on Thursday morning. Mr Burton Davis, formerly second officer of the Tongariro, who took the steamer Petone to England, is bock in Auckland again as second officer on an oversea liner now in that port (says the Auckland "Star"). By tho same steamer the officer and engineers who went -Home on tho Petone have returned. They are: Messrs C. F. H. Swede. C. West. F. B. Emms, and F. G. MeGovcrne. The Poke run is due at Wellington today with a cargo of coal and timber from Westport. The New Zealand Refrigerating Co. s auxiliary scow Eunice, with 201) tons Of produce' from Timaru, arrived at Wellington yesterday. From here she will proceed to Picton and Wanganui. , . As the coastal steamer Ovonukl did not arrive at Wellington from Lyttelton until Saturday evening tho vessel s departure for Xclson, Takakti, and Tarakohe has been postponed until 4 p.m. today. Johnston and Co. advise that as the coastal steamer Blenheim is to take two loads of coal from Puponga to Picton tho vessel will not arrive back hero before Wednesday. THE HIMITANGI. Tho Chatham Islands Fishing Co.’s steamer Himitangi arrived back at Wellington yesterday from the Campbell Island via Dunedin, and berthed at No. 13, centre, Queen’s wharf. The vessel is now fixed, to sail at noon to-morrow for Waitangi, Kaingaroa, Owenga. and Pitt Island, to load sheep and fish tor Lyttelton and Wellington respectively. The) Himitangi left Dunedin at o P-m----on Thursday, March 15th, for the islands with ‘the big oil launch Komuri in tow. She was ‘favoured with fine weather all the way, and the tow gave no trouble. The vessel arrived in Perseverance Harbour at 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 18th, and after loading 107 bales of wool and 680 sheep sailed at 5 p.m. on Monday, the 19th, tor Dunedin. On the return trip the weather was mostly fine, with occasional mist and rain showers. The Himitangi made a very creditable run to the islands considering the nature of the tow. She covered the distance of 440 miles in two days, and averaged over 7 knots.

THE HULK JUBILEE. The Westport Coal Co/s hulk Jubilee was brought off the Wellington patent slip at 7 a.m. on Saturday. S. Wood and Son, the shipwrights, took the rudder out while the vessel was on the slip, and put two new short ends of planking under the top rudder gudgeon, where there was a slight leak. It was originally intended to carry out this work in dock at Auckland. The shipwrights are removing tlm stone ballast, stripping all the inside lining, cleaning out the bilges and lumbers and replacing the ballast. The hulk, which is berthed at the Pipitea breastwork, will not bo ready for sea before the end ox this week. The Canopus will then tow the vessel to Auckland.

BARQUENTINE’S ARRIVAL POSTPONED. The American harquentine Charles P. Crocker, which arrived off the Wellington heads on Friday from Edithburg, - South Australia, has not yet put in an appearance in the harbour. Up till late yesterday afternoon she was anchored about six miles off the heads. Heavy rain came on and a southerly developed, so that the vessel put out to sea again. If the weather moderates the harquentine should probably put in an appearance this morning. . She has on board about 1000 tons of cargo for Welll!ThonCharles F. Crocker is a vessel of 855 tons gross, built in 1891 at White s yards at Oakland (California), and is owned by Mr W. Johnson, of San Francisco. Her principal dimensions are: — Length, 200 ft; breadth, 40ft; and depth. 15ft.

MOERAKI DUE 1 PAM. TO-DAY. The Moeraki is expected to reach port at 1 p.m. to-day from Sydney. Tho vessel, which berths at the Queen’s wharf, has op board. 1013 tons of cargo. She leaves for Lyttelton to-morrow ternoon.DEEDGE PARITUTU ARRIVES. The combined sand pump and bucket dredge Paritutu arrived in Wellington yesterday afternoon from New Plymouth, which port she left at 6.50 a.m. on Saturday. The dredge, which berthed at the King’s wharf, is to undergo overhaul here. It is about a year since the Paritutu visited Wellington, and she. is still in charge of Captain AlacAlahon. HOUTO AT DUNEDIN. The auxiliary schooner Houto arrived at Dunedin on Friday from Onehunga with a cargo of scrap iron. She left the northern port on the 14th inst., and, favoured by fine weather and northerly winds, was abreast of Banks Peninsula on the third day out. Light variable winds and dense fogs were then encountered, and it took the little vessel a week to complete her journey to Dunedin. The Houto took to the southern port 127 tons of iron and 11 tons of paper. On completion of her discharge the vessel will be overhauled at Port Chalmers, and will have a new set of crude oil engines installed.
