MUSICIANS’ UNION
The fourth annual social gathering, ot the Wellington Musicians' Union was held at the Masonic Hall, Bouloott street, on Sunday evening. There was a large attendance of members and friends. The function took the form of a supper and concert. In.opening the proceedings the chairman (Mr A. H. Jerome) made a happy little speech fitting the occasion. Toasts honoured included "Members at the Front and in Camp" (proposed by the vice-president, and responded to by Private Tucker), "Kindred Unions” (proposed by the secretary, Mr J; F. Woodward, and responded to by Mr Cummings), "The Employers" (proposed by' Mr Potter, and replied to by Ml Walter Fuller), "The Ladies". (proposed by Mr F. Huggins, and responded to oy Mr F. Duncan), "The Press" (proposed by Mr A. Williams, and replied to by Mr H. Hull). An orchestra of about So members, under the conductorship. of Mr H. Moschini. opened the concert with the overture to "Pique Dame." The following ladies and gentlemen afterwards contributed items: —Mrs J. F. Woodward, Miss Gladys Watkins, Mr F. R. Johnstone, Signor A. P. Truda, Messrs H. F. Wood, A. Williams, W. H. Dow. man, E. Elliott, W. Potter, R. Brown, and Frank Crowther. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Montague and F. R. Johnstone. Messrs A., S. HUlikor, F. Thomas. A. Williams, B. P. King,: and F. Crowther. The catering was in the hands of Mrs Oscar Johnson. A very pleasant evening was brought co a close with, the singing of "Anld bang Syne.",
