Frew Association. HAWERA, March 17. The Opunake Racing Club’s annual meeting was held -to-day in fine weather. There was a record attendance, and the totalisator handled £19,055, an increase of £2389 on last year’s figures. Results :

Time, 2min 49 4-ssec. MAIDEN PLATE, of ICO sovs; seven furlongs (w.f.a.).—Gipsy Gem, 1; Trombone, 2; Cordon, 3. Also started—Simple Bob, Lake Eel, The Ranch, Princess Lucy, Interval, Wee Paul, Laura, Compel, Monument, Lady Ora, Waikaka, Tiranga, White Ranger, Lady Beaufort. Won comfortably by a length. Time, Imin 30 l-sseo.
FLYING HANDICAP, of 140 sovs; six furlongs.—Munition, 8,1; Pidelio, 8.1, 2; Dingle, 9.4, 3. Also started—Bay Prince 7. Won comfortably by a length. Time, Imin 16 l-ssec.
OPUNAKE HANDICAP, of 200 sovs; one mile and a quarter.—Hushman, 7.12, 1; Zotes, 7.13, 2; Henry Clay, 6.13, 3. Also started—Crawford 9, Draft 6.8. Won by two lengths. Time, 2min Bseo. ELECTRIC STAKES, of 100 sovs; five furlongs (weight Bst). —Inah, 1; Gipsy Gem, 2; King’s Armour, 3. Also started —Festoon, Royal Divorce, Staccato, Otero, Larvol, Pergola, Caesar’s Son, Merry Paul, Key, Kitogue. Won easily hy two lengths. Time, Imin 3sec.
WELTER HANDICAP, of ISO sovs; soven furlongs.—Deeside, 9.5,1; Movement, 9.9, 2; Shandon Bells, 8.7, 3. Also started —Union Jack 8.10, Interval 8.8, Compel 8.7, Poka 8.7. Won by two lengths. Time, Imin 28 4-ssec. PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP, of 150 sovs ; one mile. —Iceberg, 8.10, 1; Cordon, 7.1, 2; Claris, 7.6, 3. Also started—Revocation 9.6. Won decisively by a length. Time, Imin 44 2-sseo.
