A WORD ABOUT MORMONS
To the Editor "N.Z. Times." Sir, —There are in this Dominion al the present time a number of adherents of the Church of Latter Day Saints, popularly known as Mormons. There are also many of their missionaries, bishops, elders, etc. The latter are, or say they are, American subjects, and therefore neutrals. At the same time many of them bear German names, bias any inquiry been made about who they are, where they come from, what are their credentials, etc.? A number of "fancy religions" have been before the Appeal Tribunals, but as yet no Mormons. They profess to be men of peace and averse to war of any kind. Can the ruling body of their church vouch for them, as by the Government of the United States the State of Utah is considered dangerous?—l am, etc., W, T. DUNN. Greytown, March 16th.
