Dr Ferguson, Dean of tlio Medical Faculty, appealed on behalf of tho following students:—Douglas Muir (fourth year), John Walls (graduate, and in camp as medical officer), Robert Christie (fifth year, and a returned soldier), Colin Anderson (fourth year), David Bing (second year, now in camp). The appeal of Bing was dismissed; that of Walls was withdrawn, and tho others adjourned sine die. Exemption was granted to two Catholic priests, but appeals on behalf of Edward Lyons and Maurice Snillang (fourth year Catholic student) were dismissed. Father Coffy said these men were necessary, as next year the church would bo stuck for men. Tho church asked for exemption only for students in tho last four years. The chairman said the board thought clergymen and theological students should not bo put on the same tooting, and if it exempted these two it would put them on a higher footing than medical students, which tho board could not do, Tho, hoard was prenared to recommend that the appellants should go as non-combatants.
