ANN UAL MEETING.
At tho annual meeting of tiio Weiliugton District Law Society, held' on Monday night, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year :—President, Mr A. W. Blair; vice-president, Hon. Sir John Findlay, K.C.: lion, treasurer, Mr P. Levi; ordinary members of council, Messrs 0. K. Becre, L. P. Bunny (reelected), E. F. Xladliclcl (re-elected), M. Myers (re-elected), 0. H. Treadwell, and 11. F. von Haast (re-elected); auditor, -Mr W. F. Ward (re-elected); council of law reporting, lion. Sir Francis Bell, K.C.. and Mr C. H. Treadwell were reelected to represent Wellington; Council of New Zealand Law Society, the Hon. Sir Francis Bell. K.C., and Messrs O. N. Beere and C. H. Treadwell were re-elected to represent Wellington. The annual report stated that tho membership of the society is still further reduced this year, and, now stands at 133, of whom 89 reside in the city and 16 in the country. Two members joined during tho year, but thirteen were lost from various causes. There are 175 solicitors in tho district holding practising certificates, a falling-off of 16 for the year. Several fresh 'solicitors tool: out certificates, but. on the other hand, many have enlisted. Two members have died. Two have left the district. One has ceased to practise, and bne has been struck off the roll. Uu to the present time Cl solicitors in the district have joined the Forces. In addition thereto nearly tho whole of tho law clerks eligible for tho Ist Division, and many belonging to the 2nd Division, have enlisted.
