CONFERENCE DECISIONS DIFFICULTIES DUE TO THE AVAR. The business session of the Methodist Conference was resumed yesterday morning, the Rev. U'. A. Sinclair presiding. The following were elected as lay representatives on the stationing coiamit,e?; Auckland—Messrs Tyler, J. Vealc, and Watkiuson. South Auckland—Messrs W. Richards and G. H. Calling. Tainmiki-AWnganui—Messrs E. Dixon and .1. X. Griffin. Hawke’s Bay-Manawatu —Messrs C unno! il and Oldham. Wellington Messrs AV. E. Ridstone
and C. Linneberg. Nelson—Messrs W. D. Pike and Bell, North Canterbury—Messrs H. Buttle and W. Seed. South Canterbury—Messrs Cherverton and F. Frampton. Otago—Messrs E. Eoseveare and J. Dawson.
Southland—Messrs Froggart and J. J. Wesney. The following are the ministerial members of the stationing committee: — Auckland—Rovs. C. H. Garland and C. H. Laws, .id,A.

Taranaki-U angunui—Revs. T. G. Hammond and R- B. Tinsley.

The conference decided to- allow a number of circuits In North Auckland, disfranchised owing to ministers being replaced by lay missioners as a result of the shortage caused by the war, to have representation. The previous action ot the president in regard to the matter was endorsed. On the motion of the Rev. J. Dawson a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the ex-president (the Rev. A. C. La wry) tor his services during tho past year, the work of which had been rendered much more arduous by the difficulties arising from the present military position. Votes of thanks to the retiring vicepresident <Mr C. Winstone, Auckland), and tho Rev. W. A. Sinclair (the retiring secretary) were also carried. The treasurer of the military committee (Mt C. M. Luke, Wellington) was admitted as a member of the conference without voting power.
Applications for extended appointments in respect of the Rev. J. <3. Chapman, Taranaki street, Wellington (seventh year), the Rev. W. A. Sinclair, Christchurch East (sixth year;, and Rev. VV. Baumber, Kelson (sixth year), were referred to a special committee for consideration and report. At 12.20 p.m. the conference went into committee for tho day, and will resume in full session at 9.30 this morning. '
