H. J. Grice applied to subdivide and transfer a portion of section 8, block 3, Manganui S.D., to H. Woolston. Approved. . Proposals by the Pahiatua- County Council for the expenditure' bf “thii'ds” accrued to September 3CHh last, amounting to £659 11s 7d, were approved in accordance with the recommendation of the ranger. . It was resolved to take no action as to the improvements required on section 2, block 6. Euahine, whilst the selector, Corporal V. P. Nettleford, is on active service. ■Mrs M. Wilson applied on behalf ot her husband, Charles Wilson, who left with the 16th Reinforcements, for exemption from payment of rent whilst he is on active service, on section 62, block 5, Karioi. —Approved. The Agricultural Department wrote asking that J. T. Bayliss he allowed to surrender his interest in section 4, Bartholomew Settlement, and that the department he given a right to occupy it. Area 29a 3r 37p.—Approved. With reference to the board’s resolution to offer Enngiwaeo, 4F, No. 163 a, for cash by public auction, it

■was resdlvod to fix the upset price at £SOO, and the loading for improvements at £166 18s.

An application to have section 2, block 10, Karioi S.D., 26a 2r 19p, vested in it as a roadman’s reserve was received from the Waimarino County Council.—lt was resolved to decline the application, and to offer the land for cash and deferred payment by public auction under section 6 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1915, as land of special value owing to proximity of railway at upset price of £135.

Referring to the board’s resolution of March 30lh, 1916. with regard tq sections 117 and 118, block 17, Makuri Township, it was resolved to cancel it, and to approve of the sections _ being offered for cash by public auction at an upset price of £2B. Messrs laddie Bros, applied for a reduction of their rent for grazing unsold sections in Hawtrey Settlement owing to portion having been recently selected.—lt was resolved in. these circumstances to accept 10s per week as rent, the reduction to commence on date when section 5, block 1, was allotted. x The Rangataua Timber Company, Ltd., applied for a renewal of its tramway license' through sections 8,9, 10, 11, 12, block 16, Manganni S.D. and section 30, block 3, Makotuku S.D., and it was resolved to grant them a new license for a period of five years from January Ist, 1917, under section 307 of the Land Act, 1898, at a rent of £lO per annufii, subject to same conditions as in last license. Messrs George Sym© and Co., Ltd., advised that they will not require the use of their tramway through Horopito Village Settlement after JVlay 31st, 1917, and it was resolved to cancel license as on that date. The Commissioner reported that Mr C. Carlson’s renewed, pastoral license of Rakcfapauma run would expire on February 28th, 1917.—1 t was resolved to recommend that the presefft lessee ho granted another renewal of his pastoral license for a term of one year from March Ist, 1917, at rent hitherto paid, viz., £lB2 per annum, under section 56 of Die Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913. With regard to Mr E. V. Dixon’s permit to oocupjv temporarily part of what is now section 22, block 4, Kaitieke, it was resolved to confirm notice of cancellation as on January 25tb, 1917, which has been issued to him.

With reference to the board’s resolution of December 20tb, 1915, re proposed contribution of one quarter of cost towards construction of protective works fronting P.E.R., lot 5 of section 101, block 1, Otahoua f3.D., the Masterton County Council wrote pointing out reasons why it is unlikely that the Masterton Borough Council would contribute one-fourth of the cost, and requesting that contribution from education endowment be increased.—lt was resolved, under the ‘ circumstances,, to recommend that one-third of the cost be contributed from the-fund. With reference to the board’s resolution of November 28th, , 1916, re disposal of section 5, block 4, Mangaone, Messrs Hodgins Bros, intimated their acceptance of section at price fixed, but objected to payment of back rent as they have never had a lease. —-Approved. Mrs J. J. McCaldron applied to surrender her temporary permit to occupy section 2, block ,1, Mongawpka North Township, area 1- rood 15'perches, the building thereon having been condemned by the Health Department, and she desired _ t 0.... remove it.—Approved. Owing to A. B. Poulson re-enlisting, G. H. Poulson (father) applied fof permission to look after section 17, block 5, Hunua S.D., until his son returns. The father has been asked to obtain a power of attorney.
