JANUARY QUOTA MOBILISES

NO. 5 GROUP RECRUITS ENTER

CAMP

The January reinforcement drafts for all arms are now being mobilised, and the men from No. 5 Group Area (ft dlington city and suburbs) went into camp yesterday. On account of the holidays and the fact that a number of the men were unable to complete their private business in time to attend a parade at 8 o’clock yesterday morning at the Drill Hall, Buckle street, a second parado was held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

In the morning 41 men answered the call, of which number 34 arc joining the infantry, 5 the artillery, and 2 tho mounteds. They were addressed by Major Corrigan (No. 5 Group Commander), who stressed the fact that many of those present had enlisted at an earlier date, but through family and other equally good reasons were unable to carry out their loyal desires at the time. These difficulties having been overcome in the meantime the men hadcome forward freely, and they would ba heartily welcomed in camp, where no distinctions were made. After being wished good hick, the men were marched to Lambton railway station, where the mounted and artillery recruits entrained for Featherston and the infantry for Trentham, The names of those who ■were sent to'camp are:— ARTILLERY. The Auckland military district’s quota for the 25th Keinforcements, recruited under the voluntary system, left for camp to-day. There were very few absentees in the city group, quota when the roll was called this morning.
