The House of Lords passed the second reading of the National Gallery Bill, empowering the trustees to sell or exchange'the worts of over-repre-sented artists—for example Turner—and to obtain works of other artists. The bill aims at checking tho exportation of works of ‘art, notably to America; also at assisting in loans of pictures to the Dominions.
