At a meeting of wootbrokers on Saturday, it was decided that tho next Wellington wool sales, Which wore to have been held dh January 25th, shall be held on tho 14th inst. This decision is the outcome of assurances obtained by the buyers that there will be sufficient cargo space on vessels for the United Kingdom to meet their requirements. The catalogue to be offered Will be for Upwards of 37,000 hales. The sale will last two days. The decision arrived at will ho welcome news to growers, who are anxious to sco their wool in store turned.into money, and to brokers, who will be able to clear their stores of wool, which in the ordinary course should have been on board ship by this time. A brief visit to the N.Z, Sugar of Milk Go .’s factory at Edcndale, found it-a veritable hive of industry, says the “Wyndham Farmer.” At the present time 7000 gallons of whey are being received daily; while at the height of the season'the intake was 8500 gallons per d'em. From the present supply, 21001 b of commercial crude sugar, which is equal to 18001 bof refined sugar of milk is -manufactured per diem. The quality of tho Output is above criticism, and' meets with an unlimited demand. The whey from the Edendale, Seaward Downs, Menzies Ferry, and Brydone cheese factories is la : d under tribute; and the work is undertaken bv a staff of 18 hands, divided into three shifts, the machinery running continuously through the twenty-four hours. The manager, Mr Chism, has had twenty years’ American experience, and by substituting American for British and Continental machinery, he has cut down time and cost considerably.
