The Komata, which is to resume commission and sail from YVollington this afternoon for Westport, is due back here on Sunday. The Canterbury Co.'s steamer Petone is due at Wellington to-morrow morning from Lyttelton, and is to sail in the afternoon for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff.

The Kowhai left Bluff at 5.15 p.m. on. Tuesday for Wellington via Timaru. The American four-masted schooner Alert, which arrived at Auckland on Monday from Puget Sound, made the run in 54 days. The cargo of 800,000 feet of timber is to the agency of the Kauri Timber Co., Ltd. Mr Schmidt, late acting chief officer of the Terawhiti, rejoined the Komata as second yesterday. Mr G. H. King, who went south with the Terawhiti as second officer, has resumed his position as third of tho Pateena.

The Arahura arrived ut Greymouth at 3 a.m. yesterday from Wellington, via ports, and sailed on the return trip at 2 p.m. The vessel is duo here to-mor-row morning. Mir C. C. Richardson, late fourth engineer of the Mokoia, has joined the Pateena as third in place of Mr J. E. Bish, who has come ashore for orders. The New Plymouth Harbour Board dredge Paritutu was taken round to the Wellington patent slip at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. The small steamer Opawa went round to the slip in the afternoon. The Huddart-Parker steamer Westralia is due at Wellington to-morx-ow morning from Lyttelton, and will sail i,n the evening for northern ports and Sydney in her new running. Tho TaraWera left Auckland on Tuesday at 3 p.m. for Dunedin, via ports. She had 173 tons of general cargo for discharge at Wellington to-morrow. An arrival at Lyttelton on Monday morning was the collier Wuipori from Newcastle, via New Plymouth, with a part cargo of coal. On completion of discharge the vessel will' proceed to Westport. The Kini is to leave Dunedin to-day with a quantity of general cargo for Wellington, where she, is due on Saturday morning. The repairs to the steamer. John necessitated by the vessel’s mishap at Wanganui are being effected by S. Wood and Son. The John is to sail at 5 p.m. to-day for Picton, Lyttelton, Ttniaru, Oamaru and Dunedin.

Tho Westport Coal Company’s collier Canopus is to leave Wellington at noon •to-day for Westport to load again for Wellington, where she is due on Sunday. After an uneventful round trip the Chatham Islands Pishing Company’s Himitangi returned to Lyttelton on Monday. She brought over several passengers, and also IPO sheep and 350 bales of wool. The vessel sailed again for the Chathams on Tuesday. , The auxiliary scow Hum arrived at Lyttelton on Tuesday morning from Greymouth, to be placed upon the patent slip for overhaul. Subsequently she will load for Auckland. Tlio Kaituna arrived from. Westport at 2.40 this morning. OTAKI "LEFT LIVERPOOL. The New Zealand Shipping Company's Liner Otaki left Liverpool last Sunday (the 23rd inst), cargo-laden for Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Wellington about April 2nd. MAHENO’S OFFICERS. Mr W. Martin joined the New Zealand hospital ship Maheno yesterday as chief officer, in place of Mr E. W, Jackson. Mr M. C. WAIHEMO LEFT ’FRISCO. The Unkm Company have received cable advice that their cargo steamer Waihemo left San Francisco last Sunday (January 23rd) for Wellington. Tho vessel sailed three days earlier than anticipated. She is duo at Wellington about February 26th. MANUKA FROM' SYDNEY. Owing to Anniversary Day holiday in Sydney this week the Union Company advise that the Manuka will not get away from that port until to-morrow for Wellington and Lyttelton—one day later than usual. The vessel is due here on Tuesday morning. RIMUTAKA LEFT TENEEIFFE. In continuation of her voyage from London the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Eimutaka loft Teneriffe lest Monday . Captain Mark Fumeans, late harbourmaster at Westport, who recently retired. is to bo presented at the end of this week with a handsome cut glass and oak liqueur stand suitably inscribed, as a token of appreciation of past services, from o. number of his master mariner friends. Captain Lobb, of tho Oanopus. will make the presentation at Westport. CARGO FOE NEW PLYMOUTH. The Oorinna, which arrived at Wellington last night with a dairy produce cargo from New Plymouth, is to loud general cargo for the Taranaki port, and sails on the return trip at 3 p.m. tomorrow. TONGAEIEO REPORTED. A wireless message reports that the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Tonga-riro will arrive at Melbourne at noon to-day from Liverpool. The vessel proceeds thence to Sydney and four principal Dominion parts. The Tongariro may be expected at Wellington about February 12th. NEREHANA SAILED. At 6.90 o’clock yesterday morning tho C. and D. liner Nerehana sailed from Wellington for London, via Las Palmas, with a full cargo from New Zealand ports. COEINTDIC SAILS TO-DAY. This morning at 6 o’clock the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Corinthic is to soil from Wellington for London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe. WOOL FROM BLUFF. Mr E. Dunlop, manager of tho Invercargill branch of tho Xeiv Zealand Shipping Company, informed a “Southland Times” representative on Saturday that the wool buyers had arranged for the shipment of the wool that was sold at tho Invercargill sales on January llth. This had been achieved by securing the Arrino, a sister ship of the Ashburton, which was at JSluff last week. The Arrino is at present at Brisbane, anti after discharging there will call at Rockhampton and Townsville. She is expected to leave Townsville for Auckland on February 3rd, and will reach Bluff, which will probably be her final port of call, some time in February,

probably well on towards the end of the month. The Arrino will take 6900’ bales from Bluff, and the Waiwera and Tongariro, both of which load from Bluff next month, will take, respectively, 3460 and 1000 bales. MOERAKI FOR SYDNEY. Tho Union Company’s steamer Moeraki is fixed to leave Wellington at a p.m. to-morrow, instead of to-day, toi Sydney and Hobart.
